RE: White tie, can we have the 3D look of items in 2.5x as in 2.99
Thanks! Yes, the V2 theme will be brought 100% up to spec and made available to all. Edit - Duh, that's not what you asked at all! Short answer is sort-of; just copy the files over and some things will work some won't. Don't worry, you won't break anything trying.

I'm meaning "MIDMI/audio items" on the track lanes. What I like in the 2.99 theme is that when two items are next to each other or superposed, you can actually see them properly, whereas in v2.5x items boundaries tend to be hard to spot. especially when you've got lots of short clips aligned or crossfading

thanks for the info guys. btw, I just discovered the 2.99, will it be eventually released for all v1 v2 users? cause I bought my reaper license way back, I dunno if I'm elligible for 2.99. can't wait for 3.0 if its that good!
RE: White tie, can we have the 3D look of items in 2.5x as in 2.99
White Tie - conversely, and I don't mean this facetiously in any way whatsoever, I think it would be really nice to see a version of your new theme *without* the 3D item look, which isn't to everyone's taste. Many aspect of your new theme are fantastic, but I can't get along with things like shadows and gradients on items. They are aesthetically very pleasing indeed, but as someone who spends his life deep in micro item/wav editing, I find them a distraction. If you could also consider removing some of the darker elements of the new theme for an alternate version - such as the bits of black background - that'd be great too. These provide too much contrast IMO and also, for those of us who have our monitor brightness and contrast turned down radically for long periods of audio work, can make things unclear. Cheers WT! Ben

While a 3D look for Reaper is great, a lot of users will want a more functional look for audio and midi edting. I've only done a bit of audi edting and agree with Ben, I find it a distraction. The midi colour map I have rethemed as I find it unusable, and will probably do the same for audio. Surely though new users should have an option? You can't expect someone who has just downloaded Reaper for the first time, to have to retheme it? A 2D option shouldn't be an objectionable request?

I doubt new users will have to, Version 3 has not been released yet though, and yes, if you don't mind installing plugins and configuring your devices it's no hardship and all part of the fun
RE: White tie, can we have the 3D look of items in 2.5x as in 2.99
I can't see how Reaper gains from the 3D look, as far as audio and midi editing is concerned. Most Daws don't do this, as the software needs a functional area to see what you are doing. Whilst I'm happy with the 3D theme, I can't be happy with it's functionality. I don't want to bang on about this, as I have rethemed, but........... Open up the midi editor. Use all 16 channels. Tell me you can honestly tell them all apart?
