I', wondering if anybody else here is, or has considered using Reaper as a live-performance tool with a laptop, or whatever... love to hear about your set-ups or expiriences...
I use it for small gigs with an accoustic band and i'd like to use it more frequently for all kinds of music, but unfortunately the lack of a dedicated solo output (and the cumbersome workarounds) make the live use impossible.

Like a headphone output that doubles the mains, but when you hit the solo/pfl button, you get that only in the headphone output...not in the mains, which is what would currently happen. Scott

Ahhh, duh.... thanks Hmm, not sure if that's a big issue for me, wasn't even on my radar as a nessecity for what I'd be doing. I was playing around with some amp sims and realized I could automate volumes and stuff on the tracks I have the sims inserted without having anything recorded on them, or recording, just playing along with other tracks live. I know it's a small thing, but the lightbulb started to flicker for me. Been wanting to do a solo or duo performance with a computer at the heart of it, and I've not used a computer or DAW for it before so I'm just looking to get some intel before I jump in.
So no one else has given it a go then? I'm suprised, frankly, with the routing possibilities I would think it would rock in that application. Well, I'm getting gear together and getting tracks built for the project, I'm gonna try it, I'll post then with what I find out and how it works for me.

Am interested too. I see so much on Ableton Live for that purpose. Are there some plug ins that might cover some of the Live features? My impression (which is probably wrong) is that Live is just firing small loops. . .
