Hey all, I'm in the process of migrating from an old Dell 8600 to my new (and shiny : ) MBP. One question: On my PC I use Voxengo's Boogex a lot, do you know of a (free) alternative for mac? Or any free plug with no/low latency that I can use to apply cabinet impulses to my guitar and bass recordings. Any help is much appreciated! Regards, - Jonas

A bit off-topic, but lately I've been studying and paying much more attention to guitar tone, specifically distortion, and almost all plug-in distortion is sounding like garbage lately. Guitar Rig sounds especially cheesy. Boogex still sounds good though. I just wish it had a built in gate...

Have you tried the JS guitar/amp-model that comes with REAPER? You can add your own impulses in .wav format to the Applications/REAPER/Data/amp_models folder. Not as many features as Boogex, but just as FREE! also: here's a place for free impulse responses

I love my amp - got a Vox AC-50 and a 2x12" Echolette cab, both mid 60's - however I don't always have the time to go to our rehearsal room to record guitars, so sometimes I record them at home (using an amp sim and a cab IR) and later re-amp them using my Vox. Another time when I use amp+cab sims is for bass since I no longer own a good bass amp. Regards, - JOnas
