I'm a rookie too so I'm not sure if this will help but... If you're getting levels then sound is making it into Reaper. Check the Record Monitor button (the little triangle facing right which is under the Solo button on the track strip). Make sure it is on.

What is plugged into the Zoom? Check to see that you have your input on the track set correctly. (Mono. Stereo, Midi....)

I've gotten it recognize the Zoom and can record. However, I cant get reaper to control the audio. I can control it from my mixer but the sliders on Reaper don't do anything. At least I can record now. The Zoom is connected via usb and has 7 mics sent through it.
