Overdubbing Question

After splitting the lead track (1) where mistakes occurred and recording the corrected track on a new track (2) (below lead track), can the newly recorded track be moved horizonally in small increments to "line-up" with the original recording where the mistakes had been removed? I have used Logic Express 8 in the past (on an IMAC) and that software will permit you to drag the tracks horizonally with the mouse. Thanks Bill

RE: Overdubbing Question

Use the number keypad. 4 give a slight nudge left. 6 gives a slight nudge right. Want to 'thickin' some vocals? Copy the vocal track to another track. Nudge it once or twice to the right and drop the volume. Cool effect in the right songs.

RE: Overdubbing Question

and to followup on what nicholas said.... there is a fair amount of horizontal "tolerance" even when Snap is off so that (in my experience at least) I rarely make an accidental horizontal shift when dragging vertically, either from track to track or within a FIPM track. I'm still a little paranoid about it, but in practice it's not really a problem. (It's nice that Reaper will show the item's position when it's clicked on, so you can watch the ticks and confirm you're staying vertical.) Semi-related to this, in case anyone's not aware of it, when Snap is on, Shift will override. (I wish the opposite was also true!)
