Anyone Using PTLE w/ Ibook600 and 640mb? 

I' ve decided that spending 2500+ for a Tibook IS RIDICULOUS. I was going to do it but... for a thousand less I wanna try a maxed out ibook. I like them more actually because they are smaller and still powerfull. However... I borrowed one over the weekend and it only had 128mb and I was running Reason otay. Next concern... DUHN DUHN DUHNNNNNN!!! How does PTLE run on the ibook? How many plugs...what plugs...how many simo tracks? Thanks alot guys, please let me know before i do something dumb, hehe.

Get the TiBook. I had an ibook 500 w/320mb Ram and upgraded to a G4/400 powerbook and the increase in performance is dramatic. Don;t buy the ibook, you'll regret it. PLus the powerbook is expandable with the cardbus slot that the ibook doesn't offer.

Can anybody else give some imput on using the ibook 600 and PT?

The most I've done on the iBook 600 (384 MB ram) is 12 tracks with about 8 plugins (two or three verbs, 4 EQ, 2 compressor - i'm sort of dredging this up from memory, but that's the basic idea), and it is still running at about 50% CPU usage. Looks like I'm a long way from hitting the wall. Works great for me. I've allocated about 100MB to DAE and PTLE, and run only on essential extensions. I haven't heard about this "update" - anyone else have word on this? dc

I use the icebook 600 and it is one SWEET little setup. Rugged, compact, affordable. Easily the best choice for my needs and I have yet to run into a brick wall with PTle. But then again, I try to get the best sound while tracking and I don't need to change everything later with 38 plugins per track Go with the iBook and buy the extended warranty/policy that includes the screen replacement. You'll be forgetting about the TiBook almost as soon as you load PT onto it
