I am certain you can buy locally and get boards so you don't have to mess with loose fill. Call around and ask for any of these: Johns-Manville Insul-Shield (fiberglass) Roxul (mineral wool) Certainteed CertaPro (fiberglass) or Thermafiber (mineral wool) Owens Corning 700 series (the famous OC703 and 705) Fibrex (mineral wool) Thermafiber (mineral wool) I know there are plenty more manufacturers out there and even within a brand, names of the product can vary by region. The key thing to understand is (or so my experience has told me) A) When you call a place, they likely will have something similar from a different brand... so just asking for OC703 won't necessarily work. B) Don't go nuts on telling them about acoustic boards. This stuff is primarily used to insulate ducts and boilers... so reference this use and often times the light goes on on the other end. C) Find places that deal more with industrial clients rather than home owners.
