well i'n not theWEF as you see, but i'll try to answer your question anyway. the information about the source comes from the dvd2avi project file (.d2v). basically this too is a frameserver. gknot does not read the VOBs directly, otherwise there would no need (except) demuxing to use DVD2AVI. for preview i think the directshow filters are used. probably it is just using the default decoding filter. so if you've installed ffdshow, it might use it too... don't know that for sure though regards steVe PS: @TheWEF: pls correct me if i'm wrong...
