Even in a new project with just one track I notice that the cursor doesn't move smoothly. It tends to jerk ahead as if the whole system is overloaded.

RE: REAPER GUI Speed !?!

LOSER, All, would you consider this to be the same issue as what I would call "GUI delay"? For example: So I am moving around the UI, selecting this track, that mute or another track's FX and there is a slight delay from when I click to when the UI responds. It has been this way for a while, but I THINK...I think it was not like this when I first started with Reaper (somewhere in the late 1.5x series). Now, I have not tried to load up an old version to confirm that part...but would the issue I described fall under the same category? Regards, David

RE: REAPER GUI Speed !?!

Hi Spoon, What I am talking about is more the refresh rate than recognizable delays after clicking somewhere. If you see a recognizable delay after clicking, it seems to me that there something else "wrong". As we discussed before, REAPER's priority lies on audio and background processing rather than redrawing the screen. Assuming that after you clicked on something REAPER tries to do some background stuff that is delayed somehow it could happen that also the UI readraw is delayed. What kind of hardware do you use? As a matter of fact, I have an older version 2.003 installed on my laptop (quite slow 1,6 Pentium M) and I don't see any delays after the actions you described. -Jan

I notice some of my plugs animate very slowly. Zebra2 comes to mind... I know there are others, though. I think the sugar bytes stuff is all jacked, too.
