It appears to be a perfectly usable piece. The one thing I noticed that for me would be a deal breaker is no MIDI connection. I do a lot of audio work also, but I always need that MIDI option.

yeah, I guess I hadn't noticed that was missing. Seems like they left a standard typical out on an otherwise solid piece. I'm also wondering about the PreSonus Audiobox USB. The number one complaint seems to be that inputs are too hot. From what I've read, this seems to fixed by a control knob on the mixer, but I'm wondering if using REAPER as a mixer will allow a "fix" here.
Just my 2cents........before Presonus I would suggest you look at Sapphire 6. I have using one dily now for quite some time without any trouble what so ever. The mic preamps are superior to mot others. It also has midi in and out. I use with widow 7 machine with multicore i7 processor. Excellent!! Good luck.
Well, I bought the Focusrite Sapphire 6 for $175. I also ordered the mxl 990/991 package for $70. I've heard nothing but good things about those two mics for years now. I bought a shockmount too for under $20, and I believe the cables I have now should be plenty adequate. I'm thinking panty hose and coat hanger for the pop filter but may splurge for a more professional set-up in the future. Thanks agains for all your helps. Anyone know of a high quality Video Recorder for a low price? Again- caviar tastes...hotdog pockets...lol
