alkai + direct connect

You probably have an older version of Alkali. The lastest download gets rid of the garbled noise and at least makes real sounds - BUT it doesn't yet sync to MTC that I can figure. ------------------ LW

Thats odd, I just send it MIDI clock and MTC from tools through the IAC bus as normal and it seems fine?

The first two versions I downloaded produced only distorted garbage on the aux channel. The most recent version produced the loop sound accurately, but I couldn't get it to sync to PTLE. I could get it to start and stop, but not change tempos in sync with PTLE. I had to manually adjust Alkali tempos to match. Without tech support on the demo version, I think they're losing a lot of sales. Well, I'll give it another whirl this weekend and see if I can get the Midi Clock working...cause I have a bunch of REX files that are pretty nice. ------------------ LW [This message has been edited by lwilliam (edited January 12, 2001).]

Hi Julian No-one has asked me for Tech support - not sure what this is all about. 1) There are quite a few additional Demo REX files that can be downloaded from the Same place as the demo. 2) You DO have to set the tempo manually in Alkali - it isnt meant to follow Pro Tools. Alkali isnt designed as a real time instrument (following tempo changes), but more as a 'workshop' to create grooves to be inserted into PT tracks. 3) Alkali syncs to Midi Beat Clock via OMS IAC.
