235/40/18 tyres...pressure

Hi all, Can someone please confirm what the correct tyre pressures are for 235/40/18? The car handbook and sticker inside the fuel cover say 36psi. I've not had the tyres on my car for long and they all read around 30psi:baring_teeth:

I'd inflate them to the PSI stated on your door plate to 36psi and see how you go. 30psi for that size and profile does seem low.

Hi there. I run mine at about 38 psi, at this pressure seems to help reduce the tramlining,

I'm on 17" rims and the book/fuel flap (which covers 16-18") says 30psi up to 160 km/h and 36 if you want to run above that speed (normal loading). I ran them at 36 for a while (on both cars) but would often find the dealer had dropped them to 30 at the service. I run them at around 32 at the moment. (mainly coz I can't muster the effort to get the footpump out & pump'em up!)

I ran 38 on my 225/35/18 before, and now i am running 40 psi on my 225/35/19s, Gary.
