I am trying to draw in a midi drum track, but it is really messed up. I can change the note values fine by selecting under the pencil tool in the menu bar. My problem is that the Edit window is broken into a grid of 4/4 time and no matter what I do I can only draw a note of whatever duration at the start of the down beat. What I mean is that you see the grid and the blue line represents the down beat. I can only draw the note on the down beat whether it is a 1/4 1/8 1/16 etc..... And I can only draw one note per beat and only at the beginning of the beat. Example I want a standard drum beat that has the bass on the down and up beat of 3, so: bass
1- change edit mode from Grid to Slip 2- in the grid drop-down, change the grid to a shorter note duration and the grid will be broken down into the smaller value.
When you start a session, start it with bars and beat in grid mode and select the note (grid) resolution before you do any work on the session. You can change your grid resolution with one of the setting on the black bar (just above where you see the horizontal tracks on the edit window, a 16th note resolution should be good). If you want to place a midi note anywhere and not just on the grid, switch to 'slip' mode (upper left of edit window). When you're working in grid mode, all you can do is "draw one note per beat and only at the beginning of the beat". That's how it works. You need a higher grid resolution, so switch it to 16th notes. I would suggest a search of motor mix for how to set that up. Hope this help.

Alright I found it in the black bar I am all set. All I need now is if somebody can answer the second question about getting a midi signal back to ProTools
