Blurdrcarl, welcome to the DUC. To use the waves plugins in real time, you should take a look at chapter 27 in the particularly the section called "Inserting Plug-Ins on Tracks". The plugins can also be used to process an audio region. Check out the section called "Processing Audio with AudioSuite Plug-Ins" in chapter 17 in the guide for instructions on that. P.S. 6.4 is the latest version.

The problem is, when I try to insert them I do not see the Waves plugins in the list of plugins I have available, yet I know I have them installed and they work fine in other apps (Sound Forge, ACID, etc) Is there some step I am missing to get the plugins available in Pro Tools?

Pro Tools uses the RTAS format. The programs you listed do not, they use DirectX and VST, etc. You may need to uninstall/modify installation to include the rtas version of the plugins in the installation.

If waves was already installed before, I think you have to re-install it.

My guess is they're installed in the wrong folder. Are they in DAE / Plug-ins (hope I remembered that right!) You have installed them as RTAS haven't you?

They automatically install in the wrong folder. Move all files names Waveshell.dpm and waveshell.dpm.rsr from Program Files - Diugidesign - DAE - Plug-ins TO: Program Files - Common Files -Digidesign - DAE - Plug-ins.
