can i record/capture MIDI retrospectively?

this is one feature i miss most from Logic. i just play along (e.g. with a loop) and when i want to capture the last take i was playing, i hit (in my case) the F1 key. i am sure, there must be a way to realise this in reaper but i don't know how. maybe i just don't know the proper search terms? if not: top agenda feature request!!

Not implemented (yet?) So you'd like Reaper to capture the audio (or MIDI) when you press Play and then convert it into a "proper" recorded clip if a particlur button is clicked (or Action exceuted, or ...). And if you do anything else the captured audio/MIDI is deleted That's almost like an invisible take (maybe that's an implementation hnit???) If so, +1
