I want to know if I can use Logic Audio or Cubase VST with my Digi-001, and which drivers do I need. Are they the ASIO drivers? I would appreciate any answer, thanks and regards. Santiago Ferrer, D.J. Xpansul

RE: Is possible to use Logic or Cubase with my D-001
Yes with both. You need the ASIO Direct I/O driver available from the Steinberg site. There are also directions on Emagic's site for using the 001 with Logic. It MAY only work with the Logic Platinum, however. The drivers aren't perfect. For instance, I don't believe the S/PDIF works on input, although I think it mirrors the main output (haven't tested that myself). All the analog ins/outs seem to work OK. ------------------ LW

Actually, you don't need the ASIO driver to use the Digi001 with Logic. Logic has a Direct I/O setting that works for the Digi001 for all versions after 4.1.2. The setting works for both Logic Gold and Platinum, [This message has been edited by E. D. Cooper (edited March 28, 2000).]

Thanks for the correction. I haven't used Logic. You do need that driver for Cubase, however - and the S/PDIF input doesn't work yet for it. ------------------ LW

Emagic and Digidesign share a long history of fruitful co-operation, from Logic Audio's early support of the Audiomedia cards right up to the current exemplary TDM implementation found in Logic Audio Platinum. In Autumn '99 Digidesign introduced the Digi001, affordable hardware for the home studio that is now becoming available at retailers around the world. With Logic Audio 4.1.2 for Macintosh, Emagic provides the software that allows Digi001 users to expand their system into a true MIDI/audio production environment. Hardware expertise from the USA and software know-how from Germany are now combined into one complete system that convinces even critical testers with guaranteed compatibility and outstanding price/performance value. Yadda Yadda Gotta download DirectX 7 otherwise its buggy.

RE: Is possible to use Logic or Cubase with my D-001
depends on the computer configuration you have. I have a G4,400mz,sawtooth(agp),384MG,9.02 OS. and for over 3 weeks now i have not been able to use logic with the digi001. Logic works fine with mac a/v, but when you switch to the Direct i/o driver the program will eventually freeze the computer. Pro tools Le works great with this configuration and all other apps. but not logic+direct i/o. Emagic have been trying to help for 3 weeks, but it seems until they update the direct i/o driver, it just won't work on this config.
RE: Is possible to use Logic or Cubase with my D-001
Thanks for your information. You seem to know your stuff...what am I hearing and reading that Logic just doesn't work right without DirectX7 and specific system configurations? Like a person even wrote in this forum that with their G4/9.02OS/380+MB system, they can't run Logic and won't be able too until drivers are created.... I just purchased the 001 and am totally dependent on Logic for using Midi to lock to film and video....I have a 450G4 with 256MB 27gigATAUltra66 utilized by OS9. Am I in for big surprises? Thanks again... <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">quote:<HR>Originally posted by E. D. Cooper: Actually, you don't need the ASIO driver to use the Digi001 with Logic. Any more news? I just purchased the 001 and will run it right back to where it came from if I can't use Logic Platinum... My system is a AGPG4/450/256mb/16mbvideo/ATIRage128/OS9 Thanks for your time... <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">quote:<HR>Originally posted by harold: depends on the computer configuration you have.
