Anyone have a trick to get a silent flashing metronome for live work?

We are going to be using my NINJAM server tonight so that I can be virtually live with a band in a bar across the state. The current plan is for me to keep the time with rhythm guitar and I will have the only audible click on my end. I was wondering if there were some cool way to send the click to a plugin that would just put a big flashing light on a monitor that the drummer could use to maintain the clock for my solos, etc. Any ideas welcome!

How about this: Blinker, near the bottom of this page: But, does the built in "Big Clock" not give you pretty much what you need?

strobe lights are cheap and variable. you wouldnt have to stare right at it and it might be cool to have the music played in time to a flashing strobe...for a bit anyways ;) btw it's pretty damn hard to keep time to a pulsing light, ever tried it? most just use a click over headphones for live. you can use a different set of outputs for the metronome as well if you have multiple outs on your soundcard.

Well a click is never going to give you the subdivisions needed for ritardandos, or any meter changes. and after years and years of click tracks through IEMs we went with a monome, and the metronome application where you see the Top of the measure in Red color, then it goes through 8 more steps of Blue. If using of meter like 10/8, you'll see 5 steps7/8 will bring up 7 viewable steps. The entire group can view this from 20 feet away, and for ritardandos the drummer get double time at the chosen bar, which we can use Reaper to automate it, which works very well, or just cut it off and go live, but I actually prefer Reaper using it's own click track, as that signal is sent to the Monome anyways. We get the varying double time or meter changes by making claick tracks sepoerately and then meging them on Reaper. Works great, but you will need to buy the Monome, and usually live players dont mind spending the money as it's their livliehood, but it depends how much live performing you really are doing.

hmmm depending on your needs this might help... look on the stash for hopi's 'heads up icons'... get them they are just a set of png files if you put them on a track they will play in the video window and you can make that window any size.... OK... so the pngs have a set of numbers 1 thru 10 in red... set your grid to 1/8... put png 1 on the start of measure and png 2 on beat 2, etc. Remember to size them to the 1/8 grid. Now DO NOT try and glue them as that screws up png's... but do select them all and make a group of them. Now you can copy and paste that group along the timeline as much as you like.... IF, for example you need a measure of 5/4 [or whatever] you can also make that in the same way... Open the Video window and see what you get... I think I'll make a set of png's in diff colors just for this purpose... maybe later today...

EDIT... link is now to the updated version... read few following posts to see what is what... a set of png's that can be used to make a visual metronome in the video window... you ought to be able to make that big enough for anyone's eyes... don't think I'll do a licecap for this but if you want to feel welcome...
