Using Pro Tools as sequencer for BFD...help!

MessageAuthor

I just bought an M-Audio FW1814 and Pro Tools M-Powered 7 (Pro Tools 7.1), and everything seems to be set up and working fine. However, I'm trying to use Pro Tools as a sequencer to run BFD as a plug-in on an instrument track. I'm able to get input sound, but no sound is coming out of my monitors. Is there some step that I'm missing? What is the correct way to use BFD as a plug-in using Pro Tools as the sequencer (I don't have a MIDI sound device). Thanks for your help. Jason

Did you load a drumkit into the BFD interface? That's a step that many first time users overlook. Maybe my might help?

heres what i do. . . . create a MIDI track and a stereo audio track......in the audio track select BFD stereo......."load the drum patches in BFD" then go to your MIDI track ......i think its the bus output....(could be interface out not sure)and select "BFD channel 1" and you should have it. for some reason you cant use BFD under "instrument track"

RE: Using Pro Tools as sequencer for BFD...help!

Thanks for your help. I've tried your suggestions: I created a MIDI track and a stereo instrument track. On the stereo instrument track, I selected BFD Stereo (stereo) as the first input. On the MIDI track, I selected BFD Stereo 2 as the output, and the input is All. When I pencil in marks on the MIDI track and playback, I don't get any sound, but I am getting some input because the volume levels on the MIDI track are going up and down, and sometimes they even go up on the instrument track. I'm still confused. Is there something that I'm missing? Why can't I get sound? I'm still unsure about how to create a drum track using BFD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jason
