Audio Loops drift over length of song?

Hi all Sorry for posting so many questions but I am REALLY enjoying reaper and keen to get the most out of it. So how do i stop my audio Loops drifting over the length of song? I have a loop that I wish to play over and over, get the BPM as close a possible and then I use the "Item settings" -> "loop selection of item source" then "Item settings" -> "Loop item source" I then drag the loop's right hand end out for say 5 mins of track time. Now i would expect that to keep snapped to grid and the sample to start bang on time each bar. But it does not it slowly drifts? Am I missing something basic or is that just the way it is? Thanks

Hi Bendy, before dragging the item's right edge over 5 mins to the right, make sure it fits to the tempo. It helps (i.e. it's necessary) to set the the snap/grid settings, so the item snaps to the grid, hence to the tempo of your project. Then, while pressing the alt-key drag the right edge of the item to make it fit. HTH -Data

Do you really do what I wrote above, before dragging the item over 5 minutes? And did you place the beginning of your item at the start of a bar? You could also try the following: Split the item at selection start and end (shift-S), discard what's prior and beyond the selection, "Glue selected items" (this item, although it is just one), make it fit to the bar(s), like I wrote above. check "Loop source" in item properties and drag the right edge to the end of your song -Data

Me too, but if you once took the obstacle, you can even be more lazy, 'cos you don't have to paste over and over again. ;) -Data
